Blackpool Remembers 10th November 2019

On Remembrance Sunday 10th November a goodly number of local Freemasons and particularly Mark Masons assembled near the North Pier on the Promenade in Blackpool to attend the Remembrance Day Service to Honour those of our Brethren who had been lost in world conflicts.
At 10.45 we made our way to the Cenotaph which is situated near the Metropole Hotel on Blackpool Promenade, the weather was particularly good to us this year a bit crisp but fine and sunny.
At 11.00am a two minutes silence was observed. The first wreath was laid by the worshipful  Mayor of Blackpool Councillor Amy Cross followed by the civic party and other dignitaries. The Right Worshipful Provincial Grand Master of the Mark Province of West Lancashire Keith Alan Beardmore laid a wreath on behalf of the Mark Degree, one of fifty five wreaths supplied by the Province, Worshipful Brother David Randerson Past Senior Grand Deacon of the Untied Grand Lodge of England laid a wreath on behalf of the South Blackpool Group of Lodges and Chapters to the tunes ‘Amazing Grace’ and ‘Eternal Father, Strong to Save’ the Mariners hymn.
When all the wreaths had been laid the service was concluded with the National Anthem and the Mayoral party departed the Cenotaph. There then followed a parade down the Promenade saluting the Cenotaph in passing as we made our way home the sun was still shining but still bitterly cold.
